I got home and went straight to the bathroom. Shane was at work and I hadn't told him I was late or that I was going to buy a pregnancy test. I guess I just didn't want him to get excited if it ended up being nothing. I had installed an app on my phone back in January of 2011 that allowed me to track my cycle and predicted when I would be ovulating...it said I was 4 days late. So I peed on that little stick and anxiously awaited.
A few minutes later I checked the results....and I couldn't believe my eyes....there were 2 lines and I was pregnant! I got this huge ear-to-ear grin on my face, I laughed, and then I cried...happy tears! I paced around the house excitedly. I was trying to decide if I should call Shane, visit him at work, wait til he got home from work...instead I ended up going the 21st century route...I took a picture of the pregnancy test and texted it to his phone. Hehe! He called me right away and asked me if the 2 lines means I'm pregnant. He was definitely in shock but very happy. We had been trying and it was such a happy day! I took another test just to make sure....and grinned, laughed, and cried some more. Then I took a few more because every time I saw those 2 lines I just got giddy all over!
We went grocery shopping a few days later and ran into the assistant manager/mayor and we told him the fantastic news! Imogene Elizabeth was born March 17th, 2012 weighing 6 lbs 8oz and 20 inches long. Our little Irish Rose has red hair too!

Where were you when you found out you were pregnant?

Oh so cute. I know when I told my husband we were pregnant I swear he was going to faint. Even though we had been trying for a while. It is hard to imagine it any other way now
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you had that kind of experience. My husband (I am divorced now) went around telling people that I thought I was pregnant after my pregnancy test. It took our midwife telling him that there is no way you can have a false positive, only a false negative.
ReplyDeleteI remember getting the news from my wife! I was told to come home and that's when I found out! So exciting!
